Methodology
Transparency, confidence, and public-health honesty
Epidemic Radar combines verified public-health sources, AI-inferred news signals, and clearly labeled estimated/simulated visualization layers. It is not medical advice.
Verified data
WHO DON, ECDC threat reports, and official ministries when available.
Estimated data
AI-inferred events from trusted news, GDELT signals, and deduplicated mentions.
Simulated data
Clearly labeled demo spread, fallback motion layers, and visualization placeholders.
Risk scoring model
Risk score = weighted combination of verified case count, recent growth, independent sources, geographic spread, severity/death ratio if known, mobility relevance placeholder, source trust, recency, and confidence score.
- Every datapoint includes status, confidence score, source metadata, and last update.
- Verified-only mode removes estimated and simulated overlays from the map.
- AI summaries link to source articles and avoid copying full article text.
- Low-confidence events are held for analyst review in the admin moderation queue.
